Your life can generally be divided into seven primary areas:
Health * Work * Creativity
Recreation * Relationships * Kindness * Inner Well-Being
Is your life a little unbalanced?
HEALTH includes a check on the basic elements:
» nutritious diet,
» appropriate exercise (however that works for you),
» emotional health including stress release and control.
Most of the other areas effect physical as well as emotional well-being.
WORK often has first claim on our time, whether it’s paid work or a regular commitment to a nonprofit project. From time to time, it’s good to check your honest level of satisfaction in the hours you spend with your doing.
CREATIVITY comes in so many forms! Some claim that they’re simply not creative. Perhaps they’re less drawn to the better know outlets like music, art, needlework, writing, or sculpting. But aren’t gardening, redecorating, cooking, woodworking, and other practical projects often just as creative? Each one is a fine avenue for exploring new ways to do things, and that’s creative!
RECREATION can be done solo or with others or, best of all, doing each at various times. Playing and laughing with others lifts us in so many physical and emotional ways. It’s even a terrific sleep aid. And so are quiet, solo times walking in the woods or bicycling down the quiet lanes.
RELATIONSHIPS are the family and friends who are closest to our hearts and either nourish or drain us. They can lift us up or pull us down and provide most of our guilt trips! Inner balance often depends on how toxic or nourishing each relative or friend is.
KINDNESS is good for you as well as for those you help and support, both strangers and those close to you. Medical research has shown just how body chemistry is positively affected. But it’s easy to get “too busy” to make time for that.
INNER WELL-BEING often falls by the wayside in the wake of our active efforts. “I didn’t have time to meditate!” Taking time to simply “be” may be unfamiliar to many of us, even though the various kinds of meditation, yoga, tai chi, prayer, and other non-doing time are boons to our emotional and physical health.
Are you always so busy “doing,”
that you never have time to simple “be”?
Are all 7 areas pleasantly balanced in your life? If any one or more becomes strained, your healthy quality of life suffers. If you were to rate your current Satisfaction level in each are from 1-10, would all or most score 7 or above?
* Notice, money and finance are not on the list. Why? Because the satisfaction requirements in those areas are so individual and can vary greatly from year to year and day to day, those are best discussed with a financial coach.
